3 Easy Steps To Obtain An LTA Log Card For Your Vehicle

Car parked inside a building

The vehicle log card is the official record of your car’s registration details: the registered owner, the vehicle’s make and model, its engine and chassis numbers, and key dates such as the COE expiry. You will be asked for it, or for the details on it, when you sell, transfer, insure or value your car. The good news is that you no longer need to queue for a paper copy.

Here is the general way to get it through the Land Transport Authority (LTA). Menu names on government portals change from time to time, so treat these steps as a guide and follow the current instructions on OneMotoring.

Step 1: Log in to OneMotoring

Go to onemotoring.lta.gov.sg, the official LTA portal for vehicle owners. Individual owners log in with Singpass. If the car is registered under a company, the company’s authorised user logs in with Corppass instead.

Step 2: Find your vehicle’s records

Once logged in, open the section for the vehicles registered under your name and choose the car you need. Look for the option to view or print the vehicle log card. If more than one vehicle is registered to you, check the plate number carefully before you continue.

Step 3: Download, check and store it safely

Download or print the log card, then check that every detail is correct. If anything does not match your records, contact LTA to have it corrected before you sell or transfer the car. Keep the file somewhere secure: it contains personal information, and you should only share it with parties you trust, such as your insurer or the dealer handling your sale.

Tips before you sell or transfer your car

  • Have the log card ready before you ask for valuations. It helps buyers and dealers quote accurately.
  • Make sure the registered owner’s details are up to date, especially after a change of address.
  • If the car is under a loan, check with your finance company what they need from you before a sale.
